 Noel Felty began his journey in the moving business in the mid 90’s after temporarily hanging his hat from the music business. He started working with lifelong family friend and owner of Brevard Moving and Storage, Richard Smith. Brevard Moving and Storage was a full service moving company and agent for North American Van Lines. This family owned company was the go-to for the entire community of Brevard and handled College Walk, Connestee Falls, Brevard College, Lake Toxaway, Cashiers, and Highlands. Noel learned quickly that the moving industry was much more than trucks and labor. Moving required skills in packing, loading, and handling. The work required so much more than he had ever thought. Delicate handling of antiques, concert grand pianos at Brevard College, the heavy machines and equipment at Ecusta, and the challenges that each home and driveway presented to the truck driver and crew. The other and of most importance,was customer relations and the strong leadership skills required to manage a crew and customer. That is where Noel found his niche and absolutely loved the of what each job would bring. Everyday was a new day with a separate set of challenges.Over the course of Noel’s tenure at Brevard Moving and Storage, Noel became an expert packer and loader, CDL driver, crew leader, sales and estimator. His experiences over this four year period working with skilled senior trainers became his foundation in the moving business. Noel eventually left this company in favor of returning to the music industry for another 10 years.Fast forward to 2010 during his spouses pursuit of her PHD, Noel returned to the moving industry. He quickly dusted off the cobwebs of his moving skills and became an Owner Operator for United Van Lines and North American Van Lines. He worked with 2 separate moving companies as an independent contractor for Classic City Moving and Storage in Athens GA and A-Turmer Moving and Storage in Gainesville FL. Keeping the rivalry between the Bulldogs and the Gators at bay he soon was considered the best in the field and went on to handle all of the national account moves for University of GA, University of Florida, Florida State as well as employee and office relocation for Shands Medical Center, and North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was the guy trusted with millions of dollars in lab and medical equipment as well as the homes of university deans, professors and hospital doctors. He moved everything from, high value households with antiques, expensive cars, to offices, labs and expensive medical equipment. He also oversaw the massive relocation of Shands Hospital and the 45 offices of CH2M Hill requiring 10 tractor trailers and over 20 crew members. Moving everyone from football star Peyton Manning to actress Andie Macdowell Noel is a seasoned veteran loaded with experience.Upon returning to his roots in the NC mountains, Noel became the lead in sales and estimating for United Van Lines and Mayflower Relocation. During the first 2 years of him taking on the job, Union Transfer and Storage was named fastest growing company and was given Asheville’s high growth award as well as winning the coveted customer choice award for both vanlines, United and Mayflower and in the same year! Noel then broadened his duties to encompass Operations and Safety manager. He soon was asked to be Operations Manger for Gasperson Moving and Storage another North American Vanlines agent. During this time Noel soaked up all that it took to properly oversee and run a large, top tier, successful moving company. Due to the success of the companies Noel worked with he was invited as a consultant at the large conference tables of United Vanlines headquarters in Fenton MO, as well as North American headquarters in Ft Wayne Indiana for input and discussion on how successful moving companies can continue to progress and provide quality in an ever changing landscape.Noel now wants to incorporate all that he has gained from working with national top tier leaders in the moving industry to provide that same kind of service with a small town feel.
